Courting Your Clients: The Essential Guide to Legal Marketing, by Margaret Grisdela (published by Legal Expert Connections, Inc; softcover, one volume, 155 pages; c2007; ISBN 978-0-9795674-0-7$24.95; http://www.legalexpertconnections.com/)
Courting your clients is a primer for those attorneys befuddled by the how-to and intricacies of the marketing their practice.
The author, a legal marketing consultant with over 25 years of experience, explains such concepts as rainmaking, public relations, networking and managing your “online presence” in an easy to read format.
Useful tips include “focusing on a small number of categories and services,” ” know your competition, “ and “look at your audience from a new perspective.” Some of the tips may appear obvious, but are often neglected in the day-to-day operations of a service business.
The chapter on dealing with an online presence was particularly useful and simple hints such as “use neighborhood search features” and how to submit your website to Google can be applied to any company.
Like all books that include a list of search engines and internet sites, care must be taken when using them, as the information can quickly become out-of-date. Aside from that, this book provides useful information.
